Intellectual & Legal Property Rights Policy

These simple guidelines explain how you may use DPS training materials so we can respect the work of all creators and follow the law.

I. Purpose

  • DPS creates and uses many learning materials (slides, handouts, workbooks, videos, templates, tools, and recordings) for our courses.

  • Some of these materials are owned by DPS, and some come from other authors, companies, or publishers.

  • This policy helps protect everyone’s rights and keeps us aligned with the ANSI/IACET Standard.

II. What You May Do with DPS Materials

You may:

  • Use DPS materials to support your own learning and your work in your center or organization.

  • Save or print copies for your personal and internal use (for example, to train your own team or improve your own practice).

  • Share key ideas, strategies, or short excerpts in internal staff meetings or planning sessions, as long as you keep any copyright notices that appear on the materials.

III. What You May Not Do

To protect DPS and third-party rights, you may not:

  • Re-brand DPS materials as your own work.

  • Sell, trade, or include DPS materials in products, services, or paid trainings.

  • Upload full DPS slide decks, workbooks, recordings, or templates to public websites, social media, or file-sharing platforms.

  • Remove or hide copyright notices, logos, or attributions that appear on the materials.

If you are unsure whether a use is allowed, please ask us before sharing.

IV. Third-Party Materials Used in DPS Courses

  • Some course content may include articles, images, frameworks, videos, or tools from other authors or organizations.

  • DPS only uses these materials when we have permission or when use is allowed by license (for example, Creative Commons) or the law.

  • You should treat these materials with the same care: do not copy or share them beyond what is clearly allowed (for example, links given by the instructor or “for personal use only”).

V. Asking for Permission to Reuse DPS Materials

If you would like to:

  • Use DPS materials in your own training.

  • Include DPS content in a publication, website, or public presentation, or

  • Translate DPS materials into another language for broader sharing,

please email DPS to request written permission before you do so.

Your request should explain:

  • Which materials you want to use

  • How you plan to use them

  • Who will receive or see them

DPS will review your request and let you know what is allowed.

VI. Your Responsibilities as a Learner

By joining a DPS learning event, you agree to:

  • Respect this Intellectual & Legal Property Rights Policy.

  • Follow any instructions from the instructor about sharing or copying course materials.

  • Ask DPS if you are unsure whether a certain use of the material is permitted.

If you believe DPS materials or third-party content are being used in a way that may break this policy, please inform DPS so we can review and respond.

VI. Our Commitment

DPS is committed to:

  • Respecting all intellectual property and legal rights for materials we use.

  • Keeping clear records of permissions and licenses.

  • Updating this policy as needed to stay aligned with IACET requirements and good practice.

These guidelines allow us to offer high-quality learning while honoring the creators whose work supports your professional growth.
